i have seen some for sale and am wondering if anyone has used them or know anythign about them

they sound like a good idea

Hmmm ... I remember years ago first hearing about seed tapes. Dunno if they were a new invention back then? (it was a LONG time ago!) but seed tape still doesn't seem to have become very commonplace.

Do all the seeds on the tape, at the relevant intervals, actually germinate and grow? Otherwise you get gaps
Is tape cheaper than/as seed?
Will tape store for a couple of years (as most seed, although not Parsnips will)?
Is tape available in the huge number of varieties that seed is?

I just can't persuade myself that there is a benefit.  Station-sowing, with a small pinch of seed at each "plant position" (yes, have to then think all-bar-one) strikes me as more sure-fire.

I pull carrot thinnings and use them in the kitchen as little'uns.  (Actually I pull the biggest ones, and leave the smaller ones to then come-on)

Tried them once as I have rheumatoid arthritis which affects my hands so I reasoned it would be easier. The answer is yes and no. Easy to lay out and cover but still had to thin out carrots, the seeds were in little clumps. Parsnips and swedes did not germinate evenly leaving big gaps. I now use pelleted carrot seeds (Moles) which I find can be spaced out easily. Only my experience from one use others may have had different results.

its soundung as though its not such a good idea as someone said if a few dont germinate then i will be left with a gap and wasted space.
