pruning pear tree that had rust last year
« on: February 05, 2015, 12:52 »
Hi all,
Got a conference pear tree which fruited really well summer before last, but last summer all the fruit fell off while really small and the tree developed pear rust.

Should I prune the tree quite severely this winter? or any other tips on how to prevent the same happening?

Many thanks!

Here is the advice from the RHS.

No need for heavy pruning, just careful management and some control -- they explain it all better than I can. I can only say it works  :nowink:
