if it's like a beer trap, basically a deepish dish sunk into the soil and filled with fluid - the idea is that the smell of the yeast  ;) attracts them but then they drown in the dish

You can also use Marmite, some would say it's the best use for it!

Yes it works a treat. In an empty 2 litre plastic milk bottle I put 1 teaspoon of yeast, 3 teaspoons of sugar and 4 teaspoons of plain flour. Fill up with warm water and shake. Quarter fill glass jam jars buried with 2cm lip above soil. I put tents over each one with old ceramic tile to keep rain out. Can get smelly if not emptied and changed weekly.
