100 litres of Coco compost for £10
« on: January 29, 2015, 08:38 »
I went to Poundland to pick up 10 packs of 10 Litres of Potting soil which actually isn't soil its made from natural coir raw material and is compressed into a block 180 x 180mm x 35mm thick.

1) Cut the bag open at the top
2) Add 3 litres of lukewarm water
3) Wait about 5 minutes for the water to absorb
4) After 5 minutes you have at least 10 litres of fresh potting soil

This is a natural and environmentally product produced out of natural coconut coir raw material
It has good water intake ability and good water repartition in the pot

Picture on left is the top of the pack
Picture in the middle is a pack before and after adding water
Picture on the left is what it looks like once watered

I shall be using this at the bottom of my flower buckets and mixed 50:50 with verve compost for my tomatoes

If anyone knows if it's possible to find these coco blocks any cheaper please let me know.

Wow that is an impressive price! I do hope they don't sell out before I can go next week. It is just the job to break up the heavy clay soil in my new raised beds I reckon  :D

Thanks for the heads up cadalot  :D

Dunno what repartition means   but I can vouch for it being good for water retention.  I got some last year and put it in the toms pots at the allotment where I don't get to water every day and it worked well.

There wording off package....

noun
1.  distribution; partition.

2.  reassignment; redistribution.

verb (used with object)

3.  to divide up.

4.  to partition or subdivide again; reapportion; redistribute.

It is made in Holland  :nowink:
