I use the Auger and go about 6" deep line with a handful of compost and cover with compost and then soil backfill

Each bed is 5 square metres

Just checking ... Do you mean 5m x 1m >> area of 5m2

or 5m x 5m  > 25m2

JBA website looks good; are their potatoes also good? After my problems with frozen seed potatoes from T&M I am looking for a new source, is this the best?

In the past JBA have said that they postpone shipping if cold weather poses a risk to deliveries.  Hopefully they still do do that?  I've had my seed potatoes from them for years and been very happy with their service.  They've never shipped to me in December, which some of the Big Name seed companies have been known to do ...

Snoop, where are the videos that you mention? I couldn’t find them.

Hi, don't want to sound like an advert, but their potatoes are good, they ship for delivery in a week you specify (week commencing), which is a tremendous help, and their prices aren't bad. Pack size now 2 kg for ordinary folks, but if you're a bit ambitious you could try the 25 kg bags! They maybe don't have the biggest range and it pays to order early, but seeing as delivery is the week you indicate, not some unknown date after you place the order, it doesn't really matter when you order. Knowing when they're going to arrive also focuses the mind on getting everything in place to chit them and on preparing the beds too...

I had 3 2.5 kg packs (pack size smaller this year, prices down to reflect this) from them last year. They were all excellent quality in comparison with potatoes I've had from other suppliers. One supplier whose name I won't mention sent me seed potatoes that were absolute whoppers. So big I wouldn't have bought them even for baking!

As for the videos, check out this link:

Some of the links in the box to the left should be videos (How to plant potatoes, for example).

Sorry for not responding, the bed is 2ms x 2.5 ms so 5sq ms - not 5 meters squared
