That seemingly simple question brought forth ooodles of interesting answers.  I see cassava was mentioned,  nothing like cassave boiled/steamed in a large bamboo section and eaten with compo 'butter' and jam.

Spent some time with the Temear tribe of North Kelantan (out in the oolo) and found this foodstuff very tasty.
