This recipe is to go with pork meatballs, but you can use it for anything, I suppose

3oz sugar; 4 tbsps cider vinegar; 3 tbsps soy sauce; 1.5 level tbsps cornflour; 0.5 pint water; 1 green pepper, blanched and cut into thin strips; 8oz tomatoes skinned and quartered; an 11oz can of crushed pineapple.

Put the sugar, vinegar and soy sauce in a saucepan. Blend the cornflour with the water and add to the pan.  Bring to the boil, stirring; simmer gently for 5 mins, then add the green pepper, tomatoes and pineapple.  Simmer for another 5 mins.

My very technical sauce....

Lightly fry some onion, garlic, pepper, chilli and ginger in a slick of sunflower oil. Add a good splodge of tommy ketchup, a good squirt of cider vinegar, a desertspoon of sugar, a dash of water, pineapple chunks and juice and warm together. Thicken to desired consistancy with cornflour. Taste and adjust. Voila....different every time!
