Winter Onions/Garlic

I planted mine a couple of months ago before I had any manure, can I now put some fresh manure in and around the bulbs that are coming through now?

How fresh?

Rotted is best and should now only be added in a thin-ish layer. This is because the bulb will already have decided it is going to form with respect to soil level.

Is it cow manure?

If so, I'd suggest you either pre-compost that, stack it for 6 months, or use it on your comfrey bed. You can always make a tea and liquid-feed your winter crops later on - around Apr/May

There is a manure selector in the Glossary on my siggy.

yeah it is cow poo.. so I am too late/early to add any now I guess? so will wait till later on to use a poo soup..

Ahh Comfrey bed... one thing I haven't thought about.. oops
