Am looking forward to a squashy winter! I have missed the cosiness of winter veg and am loving the season change.

I'm attempting gnocchi di zucca this week - hopefully light pillows of tastiness and not the heavy bullets I have previously made.

The recipe I have for those has some mashed potato in as well.

I wonder if they are lighter without the potato....... I'll have to try that recipe  :)

I can't make them work with potato. They turn into leaden lumps.

Spinach and ricotta ones are also great, though wildly off-topic. (waffle, waffle )

Lovely squash piccies Surbie and Sunny  :D

I shall be saving seeds if they are scrummy  :nowink:

Ears prick up  ;)  That is an impressive haul off one plant, so if they are good to eat, I would be interested in a swapsie  :D

This year I grew the tromba curly whirly ones you like Mum and they have been a great sucess  :D  I have several snaking around on top of the greenhouse staging.  Even OH has commented on them and he only usually shows interest when veg appears on a plate

I'll have to bring the rest of mine home from my shed, and do a pic of mine - but it wasn't a good harvest for me this year -  I didn't realize just how poor the soil was on the new to me bed, that they were grown in  :(

I'll post when seeds are available  :nowink:

I grew two long stems on a single plant, each about 3m long; then they were away up the bushes with even more female flowers but I cruelly took them off

I bought 3 plants just called Halloween, need to look up what the rest were as I just used up the seeds I had. Nothing special, would like to expand my repertoire, maybe next year.

They aren't as exciting as a Whangaparoa Crown (wheeeeee!!) but having seen how many seeds you get from a squash, I will have loads of these to spare.
