A brown laying bird that would look identical to the many brands of modern day laying hens with their fancy names. As long as the parents were good commercial examples of the two breeds, they would be well worth having.

That's right Jonny.

My Meadowsweet Goldline (Meadowsweet is just a company name) was a wonderful little bird. Such a character and laid eggs for Britain.  Wouldn't have made a descent meal though

I think the goldline are a RIR cock and Light sussex hen (these can be sexed at birth)...

however The Light sussex cock and RIR hen i beleive produces a 'White star' hybrid  (same colouring as a goldline, but the other way around ie mainly white with flecks of red colouring around the tail)
Starting from scratch............

I've only just seen this post  My Amberlinks were a result of a cross between Light Sussex cockerel and RIR hen, and they are white with some brown flecking, but they do say that if its just a normal LS x RIR, you can't guarantee anything!

I've got 2 rirxls and they are beautiful! One is a lot darker than the other, very rir in colour but has a few really dark green feathers. They are also very tame and incredibly cheeky. Munt had to extricate one out of the bookcase yesterday   ......also, she laid her first egg yesterday!! Mama was so proud!!!;)

It just so happens I have the very eggs pipping out of my incubator as we speak.  RIR hens x LS Cock.  6 Went in, 3 made it to day 19 and 2 have pipped (1 50% out).
As guilty as a puppy next to a pile of poo
