We have a chick, just less than 24 hours old. The mum took herself and the other 5 chicks off and left the other chick hatching. She was half in and out of the shell for ages. I got her warm, she left the shell, but cannot stand up. Her legs are not splayed out sideways. It is as if she has no strength to lift herself. I have treated her this morning as if it were straddle, splay legs. She is indoors, in a box, with food and water. The other chicks are fine. Wonder if this one will make it!

I took off her sticking plaster splint last night and little Mumble, named after the penguin in Happy Feet, is standing and walking. Today she can go back to her mum.

Mumble is half the size of the other chicks hatched- he/she was pecking at the food on the floor and one of the other chickes pecked at the food stuck to Mubmles beak- Mumble fell over!

You may need to ensure she is getting food and water and not being bullied by the others
