one of my warren chickens crop has started to go black can anyone help. she is 2yrs old hybrid and is healthy and perky as normal she eats and drinks and none of them have had anything different to eat. the only thing i can think of is she has sunburn as she is a bit of a sun worshipper any help please thanks

Do you mean the wattles or comb?

This can happen with frostbite certainly, obviously not the case at the moment. It does sound as though it has been damaged in some way. It is worth checking it is not just dirt. Hope you get it sorted. :)

she could also have been pecked and it could be dried blood.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Fallen fruit such as plums can also coat the combs in a juice/dust mixture which does not look healthy.

I would keep an eye on her though, because sometimes a dark/black or purple comb can be a sign of heart problems. Hope I'm wrong.
