Hi It really depends on where you live and the restrictions you have on your deeds(assuming you are keeping the chocks in the garden), My last two properties wouldn't allow me to keep any animals other than dogs or cats, wheres at my current house, I can keep what I like in the garden "as long as they don't cause a nuisance to the neighbours"(according to my deeds!!). Having said that it depends on what your neighbours are Like  . But worth checking out your deeds tho.

Rented or privatly owned, if it's rented contact the landlord 1st.

In most residential areas you will need planning permission for cockerals - as they're noisy    But you don't need cockerals for eggs so check you're deeds or with the council/landlord if rented  :)

Like everyone else has said really, you need to check your deeds. I keep my hens in the garden and my cockerel, but my deeds say I can keep any animals including any livestock I want, but if I run it as a business I have to have a 6x6 brass plaque fitted to my gates  :tongue2:  :tongue2:  :tongue2: . Though I must say my neighbours are great as well  8)  8)
