drying onions?
« on: July 21, 2014, 21:13 »
hi all.

my onions have all pretty much finished and died off, don't know if this is a bit early? they were from pound land and most tried to flower so may have been a bit dodgy from the start.

they've produced half decent sized onions so i'm not complaining.

anyway back to the main questions. do i pull them up and leave to dry now or do you need to leave them in the soil?

If they are drying off on top anyway, they aren't going to grow any more.

Lift them a little from the ground so the roots are loosened.  Let them dry out in the sun for as long as possible, but if rain is forecast then bring them under cover.

You want to dry them as long as you can, and then some more, with as much air circulation as possible.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
