Wow you do like to live dangerously :D
Ha but it does matter, it is considered a rebellious act

Ha ha ha, Dugless!

I've just seen a special pot of Marmite while shopping, which is a rare comestible, so then went in the trolley straight away!

And four big beers too...

   I read that as four big bears

For big bears in a shopping trolley? Is that a new version of how many elephants can you get in a mini?

Plant anything.

I don't think I will bother with anything next year.

Everything I have planted, all grown from seed, has been a complete failure.  :(

Radish.....4
Rocket....0
Onions.....looking very poor, about the size of a whole walnut
Broad Beans.....these were good
Tomatoes...some flower no fruit
Courgette....0
Raspberries.....0
Cherries.....0
Lettuce....1

I am holding out for my runner beans, 8 plants, one flower cluster so far.

Forgot reply! Totally agree with you. My plot has too much bare soil where seeds not germinated and pumpkins and courgettes very slow to develop. One pumpkin so eaten that is nearly just a stalk!  :(

Do so much research on every plant and planting method that I end up completely confused by conflicting advice! I'll stick to this site!  :)

. . . plant 4 rows of potatoes,  2 rows will do,  we don't eat many and we still have 3 and a half rows in the ground  ::)

. . . leave my brassicas in 4" pots for so long  ???

. . . plant my Carrots between my Potatoes and Parsnips,  they are getting too much shade.

. . . sow 5 year old Onion seeds and expect to get some nice Spring Onions   ???

I've a new one to add:

I will not let my wife pick beans without first reminding her of the conversation we had the day before where I said I was leaving the first row of dwarf beans for dried beans.  She picked a carrier bag full of beans that are too old and tough to eat as they are but too young to save for seed.

Oh well!!

Next year I will not:

  • Dig up all my seed potatoes and replant them somewhere else
  • Move strawberries in full flower as fruit is beginning to form
  • plant all my brassicas much later than I should have done
  • leave all the onions in modular cells rather than in the ground to grow
  • lift raspberries and blackberries in May
  • leave all the plums on the tree and not pick a single one

Nor will I be leaving an allotment site, starting a brand new veg growing area from scratch or be having to dig up swathes of well established lawn before anything can go in the ground.

Surely next year should be a better one?

(I'll still miss my plum trees though. Oh well... you can't have everything in life)  ;)

True but the odd thing now and then doesn't hurt  :nowink: Hopefully things should be established for you next year Paul and it should just be a matter of harvesting and eaten. What a garden might lack in space it makes up for in convenience  ;)

Not sure Id want everything covered in pooh over winter though

Move house and abandon my allotment and this forum for months
But I'm back now, digging out the weeds and sowing green manure for the winter in anticipation for next year  :D

I will not inadvertently feed the birds, squirrels and other wildlife by failing to put bird netting over ALL of my raised beds. But I will gladly leave out peanuts and birdseed for them :) they've gotta eat too!

1) forget to sow successionally
2) forget to feed my plants more often during their growing seasons
3) sow too many seeds of the same type all at once
Now what shall I do today?
