Akido & Konsa here, both mini ones but different types Akido is a Japanese dark green with prickles but Konsa is like a small telegraph, had quite a few of both already, I grow them outside but with lots of wind shelter.

Emma, the Passanda one is fab but the foliage is a bit crazy and has to be tied up etc. The Cucino ones have short foliage so are easier to deal with in the greenhouse. They keep producing if fed and watered properly though  :)

@JayG.

We're only down the road from you and theoretically in a colder area.  I reckon the thermal mass of the growing environment counts for alot with tender plants like cukes.  Size of Tunnel/Greenhouse leads to more consistent temp.  Not to be too personal but is your's a small one?  Mine's huge!!!

10 X 8 - they don't come more average than that!  ;)

What you say about larger greenhouses and PT's having more stable temperatures is true of course, but in my case this year I'm taking my cue from the fact that the cuke leaves on my failed attempts always seemed to shrivel and die, whereas my neighbour, whose GH is much more shaded than mine, never has problems.

So, more shade it is, and so far so good, although of course if successful it will still leave the puzzle of how it is that many people manage to grow them indoors in full sun.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

We have six plants, and five are just chucking cuces at us all the time! There were eight fully grown ones last evening! (Not sure why the sixth is getting the hump - it's even a different colour, so may be having problems)!

Luckily, they're great things to give away, as I don't think I've ever met anyone who doesn't like them!

Bought some jars from IKEA and now using them for cucumber pickle.  Absolutely delicious and eating with everything.  Lovely from the fridge!!!

I was just about to start a thread and seen this.
My cukes are like triffid's at the minute and i'm struggling to contain them.
There are cukes every where!!!

Can you stop them growing when you are happy with the size and if so will the plant continue to produce fruit elsewhere.
i.e. A bit like a tomato plant when you cut the top off!!

Cheers,
Keith

You'll probably get more side-shoots appearing, so you'll get even more cuces if you pinch out the tops!

Lucky you - and give them to chums as they'll help you out the same way one day!

Even our dog has got fed up with them, which is a first..;0)

Saw some advice which was to let side shoots produce a couple of cukes and then nip them out.  Is that right or have I been watching the wrong youtube again?

That's what I do, but that doesn't really answer your question! :)

I missed a couple!  Picked em just now.  They're supposed to be cornichons.  More like zeppelins.  Oops
