Still all quiet......its too quiet out there Captain!  ???

Very windy today, despite the warm sun, so probably not ideal flying conditions even if there were any and I still have not seen any.

I have just seen 4 ....
The trouble is, my growing has been so poor that even the Cabbage Whites aren't stopping for an egg laying opportunity.

Wow, that really is bad  :(

Saw my first one today desperately trying to get at my brassicas.  Luckily no-one saw me chasing it around like a mad woman trying to catch it in a bucket!  Not sure what I would have done with it anyway but it evaded capture.  Brassicas netted but so huge the leaves are poking through the netting and something's definitely been chomping. >:(

We had some earlier in the spring, but they seem to have disappeared now. Perhaps due the very cold, then very wet, then very windy weather we had. It's now extremely hot and I've had some clutches of fruitworm eggs on the toms, so maybe they'll be back.

I know this is off topic, but we have thousands of snails instead. I've never seen as many here ever. Fifteen on a small cabbage is par for the course at the moment.

I spotted one last weekend, desperately trying to get to my cauliflowers. After last year's decimation of Brussels sprouts I invested in enviromesh to keep the * off!

There were about a dozen or so on the plot last weekend. They found our brassicas but didn't like the debris netting so fluttered 3 plots up where there wasn't any netting.

I found some yesterday while out in the car- left a nasty yellow streak up the windscreen!

But def less butterflies around than normal- especially after last night monsoon and thunderstorm- took branches off the trees in the park, and I spent time playing 'hunt the plant pot' this morning- shouldnt have left them on the table!
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

Still not clapped eyes on one yet. Up at the plot every day and still no sign of them. The other butterflies species are now making an appearance. Today I noticed some holes in the leaves on closer inspection I spotted eggs and small caterpillars. Then it dawned on me these sods must be working the night shift. !!!!
