My peas , which are just starting to flower, are almost invisible due to the mass of tendrils. They are really thick and healthy looking and so I wondered if it is wise to pinch a few off as they must be taking some of the plants energy as they seem to have taken over .
I took one and had a chew on it as I read you can eat them, but just wondered if it would do any harm to cut them off.

Some varieties of peas have loads of tendrils and are classed as 'self supporting'. One that I grew a couple of years ago was Canoe. I didn't remove any tendrils, and had massive crops of lovely sweet peas. I still provided some support though, just to help keep the plants off the ground, and at an easy height to pick from.

If they are green, they are photosynthesising and feeding the plant, not being a drain on it.  I would have thought.

Thanks both, I'll leave them on. Didn't think about them feeding the plants as yes, they are very green.
