Looks like damage rather than pest or disease to me.

Have you been anywhere near with a strimmer, etc?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Could easily be cats or dogs, or even just the wind - the cane that's broken off won't do much but it won't kill the plant or affect any of the other canes.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
