rogermac - would you please give more information on exactly how the hen is behaving as it is hard to tell what might be wrong from your post. If you have any doubts about her health it might be useful to take her to a local vets.

she is still eating but cannot stand she pushes herself along by moving her wings
the comb is still quite red. all my hens have access to woodland where they scratch about all day
they are all regularlly wormed and I also add cider vinegar to the drinking water

Have you checked her legs? Cider vinegar should only be added to water for about one week in four and only fed using plastic/crock drinkers. Apologies if you already have done/are doing these things. :)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

take her to a vet to see if she has either broken a leg or dislocated it.
Staffies are softer than you think.

marek's disease can cause these symptoms  :(  Progressive limb paralysis -Loss of ability to stand -

http://www.rightdiagnosis.com/m/mareks_disease/symptoms.htm#more_about

it can take hold very quickly and effects younger birds mostly but I have experience of loosing older birds to this disease too

Did you take her to the vet as both Joyful and I suggested. You really need to do so as she might be suffering. When we keep hens we have a duty of care.

If it's just a dislocation then the longer it's left the less likely you are to getting this problem sorted because it will keep popping out again. Dislocated joints need popping back in straight away.
If it's a broken bone then if you leave it for any length of time it may start to set in the incorrect position leaving her unable to run away from danger.
If it's Mareks then you run the risk of it spreading to the rest of your flock and you could lose them all, if any recover from Mareks they become carriers.

Sorry to sound very blunt on this matter but as Springlands has said you have a duty of care to them (as with all animals) and failing to get the appropriate treatment is prolonging her agony.

You do have a legal duty of care and if you don't want to pay for professional treatment your only other option is culling - and soon!
