I sowed my French and broad beans (24 seeds in all) directly into the ground about three weeks ago. Let's see what happens, eh!

Anton as you can see the beans can undermine our best plans. One potential solution is to plant Bolloti beans these can be eaten whole when young or a bit older they can be podded then finally those left on the plant can be dried podded and used in stews in the winter.( once rehydrated ) this solves the holiday problem whatever time you harvest them you can use the beans in one of these ways.
