ants and sticky eggs

Hmmm maybe a weird / paranoid question, but ......

The eggs my hens laid have always been beautifully clean but a few days ago there were quite a few ants on one of the eggs, but I couldnt see any cracks in it or anything. There seemed to be a bit of moisture on it but it dried off straight away (it was a really hot day - I'm in Aus).
The last maybe week Ive noticed ants on an egg a few times, and today although there were no ants the egg did feel a little tacky - again no cracks evident.

Is this anything to worry about? The eggs should be ok to eat? It's just that before this they seemed so clean - I was actually amazed at how pristine they look!

Hmm... The only thing I can think of is that you are looking very freshly laid eggs. They are wet when first laid and this moisture dries quickly.

Are they still tacky when they have dried and cooled ?

hmm the first one did dry and i had thought maybe it was just that it was fresh laid (the moisture) but now that i think about it the ants would have to had time to get to it so it wouldnt have been THAT fresh..

The one today definitely felt a bit tacky even though it looked dry and it wasnt warm ....

Hmm... No idea - pehaps it's the heat.

DOES ANY ONE HERE FROM A HOT COUNTRY HAVE STICKY EGGS :!:

ps it's not very hot here i'm as far south in Aus as you can get! just warm weather, being summer ...
