Raspberry canes
« on: April 19, 2014, 21:20 »
I bought 12 raspberry canes a couple of months ago (4 each of 3 varieties).
One of the varieties has shot into life , put on several inches of new growth and lots of green leaves.
The other two varieties don't seem to have done anything at all - sticks in the ground really.... They do seem to have some tiny purplish buds on some of them, but i don't remember if they were on when I bought them.
My question is - should they have all started to grow now whatever variety they are. I know that a bought a variety of cropping canes ie, summer and autumn and I think it is the autumn ones that haven't moved....(i ought to have kept the names of the varieties but didn't :(  )

Thanks for any advice you can give....

This is a mysterious question, like the similar one about strawberries. A big hmm!

For one would expect all of them show some sign of life by now really.

a) they are dummies for whatever reason

b) they are late moving for whatever reason

Either can be numerous.

----

Mb, do not keep them in pots long. They can very seriously regret being moved too late.
