Has anyone tried to grow these yet, I'm thinking about giving them a go and would appreciate any advice on growing them.

I grew them last year sucessfully. I think they did well because we had a warm summer. I started the seeds off in the greenhouse, hardened them off and planted them on the allotment during the second week of June. I was Inundated with the tiny fruits. I wouldn't grow them again as I didn't like them all that much. The taste to me was of cucumber and lime with quite a tough skin. They did look pretty cut in half and placed in a PIMMs. Good luck with yours.

I've had my seeds in for a week and still no germination. Are they slow starters, like cape gooseberries?

I sowed mine on 1st March and potted them up on the 16th.
They were started in a heated propagator though.........

Mine were sown into cells and put in a heated propagator on the 3rd along with my cucumber seeds. Temp is around 84-89F, and so far none have germinated, although all 6 of my Chinese Slangen are above the ground now.

I've had 4/6 germinate here, kept on the hot bed in the greenhouse, minimum temp of 16.

Just checked the label and they were sown on 26/03

Mine germinated in an unheated greenhouse but around the first of May. It wasn't slow to germinate but seemed to take ages to grow larger. It was still a delicate plant when it went into the ground.

Mine took 10 days and am growing them in the house. Only had 3/6 germinate. They are now 2 1/2 weeks old and are don't seem to be growing much but I am assure they are slow starters

Thank you for reminding me, must sow my seeds. Have grown them for a couple of years now, and decided the best thing to do with them is pickle them. We are still eating (and enjoying) the pickles now. I grow three plants in my greenhouse and they produce enough for about 4 jars of pickles.

Would you share your pickle recipe?  :)  Sowed 6 seeds yesterday, it's the first time I'm growing cucamelons. The sour cucumber taste sounded too good to pass up hehe.

Yes, I can't remember exactly what went into mine, but that recipe sounds fairly similar.

Has anyone tried to grow these yet, I'm thinking about giving them a go and would appreciate any advice on growing them.

Mine were up within ten days, 100% germination: in a heated propagator on the kitchen windowsill and now in a heated greenhouse.

They took a very long time to get going last year, so this year I am feeding them well and they are growing much more quickly. New Shoot noticed hers grew faster after a splash of something good, so I copied her  ;)

Good luck -- you do need to get them going asap though or it'll be quite late in the season before they start to produce flowers.
