Pros&Cons of rubbing off all but one chit on seed spuds before planting, any advice pls.

Why chit if you going to do that?
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

Supposedly, fewer spuds, bigger ones though.  Also, I was looking in the bins at the garden centre at all the over-sprouted potatoes (I was going to buy one to try out the "just grow the chits" experiment, but haven't got the time) and most of them seemed to just have one main sprout.  Like the others had died off.  So, when you pull up the spuds and find the dead seed potato, have you ever noticed if it's attached by one stalk or lots to the rest of the plant?  I will look this year.  Maybe all potatoes do this and you are just saving them the effort.

That's what they say, however, the question is about 1st early spuds and my target with them is more, smaller "new" potatoes.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Even outside new potatoes it's more of a fiddle for those showing their veg. It's an unnecessary job. :)
