I planted some autumn planting ones back in October. One has a shoot about 2 inches and another just starting to push through, but no sign of any others. I'm a bit anxious to see them to know if they survived the wet weather over the winter.

Hadn't thought about slugs so better do something to stop them.

Just a few showing their heads. I expect to cut some in about a week.

Farmer in Suffolk on TV was cutting, but they were under plastic and appeared to be only one about every yard. A most ingenious machine lifting the plastic just enough to allow the pickers access and then dropping it back down again behind them.

Mine were year old crowns planted last year, no sign as of yet, getting a tad concerned they may have drowned given the wet weather we have had.
I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things; right now I am so far behind I will never die.

Mine are just poking through. First year of picking-it's been a long wait since planting the seed in 2011. Looking forward to the first tasting!  :D

After last year's cold winter mine took until mid-May to appear.

Had a second picking yesterday, including some we had earthed up for white asparagus. Always a treat eating asparagus
