Thanks Springlands - might just try one plant, and give it a stern warning about its performance!

That stern warning might just do the trick.   I gave my cukes a good stern warning last year and had the best yield ever.

I think I read somewhere that Marmande need a long growing season.  I've got a good few about 4" high already but after reading your comments might get shot and just try a couple.

Not wasting valuable PT space that's for sure!!!

This year's varieties

1. Black Cherry
2. Bursztyn
3. Kootenai
4. Leningradskiy Skorospelyi
5. Nikola
6. Sibirskiy Skorospelyi
7. Stupice
8. Utrennyaya Rohsa
9. 506 Dwarf Bush Early
10. Zaryanka
11. Knopka
12. Lagidnyi
13. Marmande
14. Tatjana
15. Yellow Pygmy
16. Sweet one million F1
17. Anna Russian
18. Banana legs

Stupice, sweet one million, anna russian, banana legs are known entities. The rest is all new.

I had many other varieties also last year that are not on the list, but none of them was really worth growing compared to the taste and productivity of anna russian and stupice. Maybe except Siberian. That one was nice as well.

i wont be growing anything in  2104 he he he
I've not planned that far ahead either ....... Even if there is a great lottie in the sky!

I blame my fat fingers  :nowink:   although looking at the price of T&M seeds it might take me that long to save up for a packet

I'm looking forward to trying my dancing with Smurfs....

Is that a tomato or some sort of funny tobacco ?  :nowink:

I've found a packet of Arnold root stock so I think I might play with grafting again, which is pointing me down heirlooms so  I've put brandywine on the list.

Cheeky!     Its a tomato!  Never heard of it before, so if they grow, I will be on here with photo's!

If they look like this, I will be well pleased, but the other photo's I've seen are more dark purply looking with red bottoms! lol

I've grown Vintage Wine for a few years - pretty to look at, reasonable taste but not very prolific in my experience.

My Marmande were a total washout last year.  :(  Like you I will be going for the Sweet Million again - lovely.

Oh - in what way (failed completely or just generally underwhelming?)

Just failed completely - my other toms did well but not the Marmande. The plants did not grow well and the toms were very small and few and far between. Not sure that I will try them again - but then again I do not like to be beaten.

After attempting to grow Marmande in the greenhouse for a number of years, I've always been disappointed with the results but last year I'd already committed valuable greenhouse/polytunnel space to chillies and peppers and planted the tomatoes on the allotment plot - wow, the Marmande were amazing and a good yield too.  And with the long cold start to the year, I was late sowing my tomatoes but they came through with the warm summer.

I'm growing San Marzano for my sauce toms, and a smattering of others which I have yet to decide on (Bl.oody Butcher were very early and worth growing again)  I came across Heinz 1350 tomato seeds so I thought I'd give these a go this year.

Victory, Market King, Jersey Sunrise - as usual.
Alicante. have grown before but not from seed as I am doing this year.
Tomatillo (if that counts). Trying for the first time.
Sometimes my plants grow despite, not because of, what I do to them.

Black cherry - tried before but had a cat related disaster with the seedlings so giving them another go.
Alicante - had good results before outside.
Pink Brandywine and Amish Paste - still trying to find a good beefsteak variety having been disappointed with marmande in the past.
Sungold - after the good reviews on here.
Firecracker - not sure where these seeds came from!
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
