Might I ask where you're going to put those pumpkin plants before it's safe to put them outside?

I have a large poly tunnel  DD - double up as a safe house for tender crops , I cordon off an area with polystyrene sheets which I can close off from the rest of the tunnel on frosty nights with a frost setting heater - infact even an electric light bulb will keep it frost free

The likes of carrot/parsnip/beetroot- does not make sense to have them occupying space for two years.

Does when your parsnips have come airfreight from America.  But then the packet says save seed from at least 20 plants, because they suffer from inbreeding depression.  Not sure what I am going to do, it will depend how wonderful these parsnips are!

Corn salad was always a good seeder for me.

With radishes etc, if you do save seed you have to be careful to resist the first one to set seed or you will select for bolters.

A pumpkin plant can get to quite some size in the couple of months before it's safe to put out!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
