A bit of a late call in here but was up at 6 for my yoga session, just wish I was brave enough to go outside for it. A glorious morning, washing out, everywhere clean & tidy & off to work in a mo. Then back home to make gooseberry & mint jelly. Just wished I had enough home grown mint.

Certainly looks a good morning... half over already but I expect I'll be up late as usual so it's early enough for me.  ;)

Went out early to go bird watching by the river. Poor weather by the time we got there so lots of fuzzy photos, but saw a lot of wildlife we haven't seen there before. Ready for a nap now.

Tired, sore and irritable this morning. Left the sheet off after going to the loo around 1.30 as it was so warm and some little bitey thing started chomping at my legs and arms an hour later. Must be small to get through the mesh at the window. So covered in very sore but tiny bites and not happy! Now stinking of tea tree oil.

Never mind, I'll live. There are a lot worse off than me.

Morning Dugless, I have been up since 6.30 sliced and filled a chocolate cake which is now in the fridge ready to cover in sugarpaste tomorrow morning or maybe later this evening depending how warm it gets, not the best time of year to be icing cakes but hey ho. Weather is fab here.

To all who are going on hols this week or already gone HAVE A FAB TIME  :D

Morning all. Sorry Dugless, went out without greeting you all. Been to the market which is stunning and buzzing at this time of the year, with stall holders from the larger growers to the chap over the road with his few cucumbers and tomatoes to sell. Makes you feel happy.... From our new home town

I am not exactly sure but I think the market people over on the Continent do sell more local grown stuff rather than here where it seems no different to the supermarket stuff. except of cause where there is a farmers market

Most of the stuff is indeed local, much of which we grow in our own garden. I would say that apart from citrus and maybe mushrooms the rest is readily available from local sources and the prices reflect it. 80p will buy kilo of apricots, nectarine or peach. everything is sold by kilo, very little is above that price at the moment. There is all the mediterranean veg and fruit which we can grow due to our long hot growing season, though the likes of citrus and olives don't cope with the short bitter winters. A litre of local honey is two pounds equivelant, well grown veg plants 80p for twenty. Fruit trees only sold at optimum planting times are a couple of quid. If you don't want to grow your own you can eat extremely cheaply if you are a veggie! It's a lovely sight, the way they display all the veg so proudly, all different varieties, so colourful. You get stalls just selling ten different types of tomato, or pepper, or cucumbers. It needs to be seen to appreciate what I can't describe very well.
