Morning. Just checked car roof and its very frosty. All my ground potatoes under a polythene sheet and my potted ones are covered with old blankets so hopefully ok. Should all be warming up again in an hour or so.

Morning  :)

Beautiful blue sky and sunshine here.  Looks like there may be a bit of frost on the car windscreen, but not the total white-out we were predicted.  We spent about 2 hours yesterday afternoon dragging trolleys of plants under cover and fleecing stuff  ::)  As you can imagine. we have loads of stock in for the bank holiday, so it was bad timing for us.

Knackered last night and in bed by 10 - wide awake now   ::)

Morning all!

Off to Twickenham this morning to watch the annual Army v Navy rugby match. However, there were six of us rugby chums meant to be going, but that has now gone down to four.

I'm not sure why Chris isn't going - I'll find out later on.

But I do know why Tony isn't going: he was one of the fire-fighters that went to tackle the blaze in the engine-room of the DFDS ferry at Dover the other day, and was one of the ones that got burned. He burned his hands and his head, and today he's off to East Grinstead Hospital for specialist treatment. So, we'll be thinking about him going through all that.
I may be Welsh, but I love ewe anyway!

I'm sure we'll all be thinking about him. The emergency services are something we should all be proud off. Best of luck to him and enjoy your day.

Best wishes to Tony. Frightens me somewhat as DD has 1more week before she completes her training to be an on call fire fighter. So let's all support them when they are on strike about their pay & conditions, they expect them to fight fires at 60, having heard what she has to do & carry they must be pushing it at 50.

I was a lifeboat man for 10 years at Littlestone-on-Sea ( a fast reaction RIB capable of about 36 knots), and you had to come off the boat when you reached 45 years, because it was considered too rough when you get older (you could stay on the larger boats until you were 55 apparently.

So, fire-fighters fighting fires at 60? I don't think so!

Thank you both we are very proud of what she has achieved so far, she is doing this on top her 40 hour week day job, in the aim she will eventually get in as a retained fire fighter. When people ask why she wants to be a ff she says what other job title has ff in it & where else do you get to blow sh@t up   she goes not this next week but the week after next & should find out the following week if she's passed. If so it will have taken 2 years of trying since she first applied.  :)
