Plum Jam Recipe

I made my first jam using the plum recipe on this site, it was so successful I surprised myself! We had our own plums and didn't want to waste them.

Thanks   :D

Plum jam was the first Jam I ever made too - along with a big batch of scones!

I love jam making but worry about the kids' teeth and sugar so I often buy sugar free fruit spread from tescos now :(

Hey, I made loads of plum jam this year, even more exotic varieties like Plum Chocolate/ Plum and caramelized Almond Jam.....

I would've never believed it, but I'm totally mad about it... it's that bad that I didn't give away any of the latter, I only managed to seperate from the Whiskey Variety as I haven't tried it and it's the one of which I had most

I got 10lbs of plums for £1 from a place we passed in the car once, they were too small for them to sell as 'proper' plums.

Turned out really nice, but Brian said the only thing I don'tlike about the plum jam is the 'bits', he means the skins!!!!  That's the best bit!!!!  so now when he has his greek yoghurt, I sieve the skins out for him, otherwise he wouldn't eat it and he doesn't like the blackcurrant one either, but he's just weird!!!!!!

We made damson, apple & blackberry jam, still have 2 jars in the fridge, the damson's came from next door's plot.  We also made damson vodka, not much of that left though!

oh i adore damson gin when my FIL makes it. i much prefer it to sloe though he more commonly makes the latter.

I wonder if it's possible to make blackberry gin - my blackberries are coming along well!

Thanks a lot every one!

Another thing thats growing in the garden is a babaco, heard of it?  You sprinkle sugar over it and stand for a while in the fridge. The only way to describe the look is it looks like snot, sorry but thats the only way to describe it

Tastes good though, we fight over who gets the most juice!

Hey Chrissie,

it couldn't be simpler: you just make your normal plum jam, maybe a bit less sugar (I generally use plums: sugar in the proportion 2-3:1) and when you're nearly done you put in dark chocolate, approximately 100 g chocolate per 1000 g plums. Originally you put in the whole bar at once, I grated it and put a right bit extra in

Enjoy,
