asparagus help
« on: February 22, 2014, 09:39 »
i bought 2 packs "green" asparagus from Wilko's. due to the weather i have not planted them yet, they are in the original bags in my kitchen but, some have sprouted and spears are growing. if i plant them will they survive any frost?

Title typo corrected for future search purposes.

Pot them up but keep sheltered . I would not plant out till it is much warmer.

If the roots are dry, pop them in some water an hour or two before potting up.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

at the moment they are on damp newspaper on the kitchen drainer and the missuss is starting to get fed up with them. the spears are actually growing on them, i don't want to kill them

It's almost time to plant them outdoors anyway, but given that they've been kept in the warm it may be better to pot them up and keep them frost free for a couple of weeks to help them find their feet first.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
