It appears that to become successful "allotmenters" we must test our soil and add compost/fertiliser appropriately. Where is the best place to buy one? I wouldn't want to get one that wasn't a proper kit! Rach x

Whatever you do, read the instructions before you go and play with it in the garden and then come back in and realise you've ticked just about every box on the "never" list...

Garden centres, online shops, that great big South-American river on the web, e-bay...

Don't bother buying the metal pronged affair. In my experience, they don't work reliably.
