A good while ago I saw a programme with a whole wall of baskets filled with flowers, right alongside a windy main road - but can't remember what was in them 

My hanging baskets didn't do well last year, the wind really blows along the terrace here; so this year I'm trying some wrought iron manger style ones.

Any ideas for flowering plants that survive in windy positions?

What about the trailing balcony geraniums often grown on the continent.  If they can survive on the side of an Austrian hillside, they should be OK for a breezy Kent terrace

I would line the basket with black polythene with drainage holes in it to stop the drying effect of the wind. As to plants.... Lobelia geraniums pansies but nought that trails too long
