Telephone are aka Alderman, and quite a few people grow them - I'm one.

make sure they have something sturdy to cling to, remember that peas don't climb round poles/strings as beans do - they will also need pea netting or horizontal strings across the canes. Other than that just follow normal pea advice

i have netting ready to go. i'll use some of the bamboos to erect a frame and tie the net to it. i tried to grow alferman last year on my other lottie (which i keep pigs on) but the rabbits ate them. what sort of harvest do telephone produce? we are going pea crazy this year, also have greenshaft which is my favourite.

I don't think they produce a bigger harvest - it's just at a better height for my creaky back when picking  ;)

I'm wondering how they're going to do at the end of my greenhouse!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

DD, you may have unwittingly inspired me to try a cunning plan this year.  :)

Last year I grew climbing French beans in the GH as early as I dare, and my usual sugarsnap peas outdoors - the beans were distinctly average performers and the peas were much more severely damaged by thrips than in previous years, so I'm wondering whether to try reversing their locations this year.

Now tell me you don't grow early peas inside your GH!  :tongue2:  ;) ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
