I keep a record of prices from year to year and it's my belief that prices have risen notably this year. Anyone else think that?

Haven't bought mine yet, as I have only just finished checking the stock already in my seed box. But will be on the look out.

I'm well stocked up with seed so no real need to buy fresh but funny you should mention the prices - I do like to see if there are any new varieties in the new season catalogues and I noticed prices seemed to have shot up in the popular sites.  F1 seeds always were expensive but even the open pollinated ones are much more expensive - if we'd had particular bad weather last year, I might have said there was a shortage.  I can only conclude that in the current financial climate, more people are growing their own and seed suppliers have decided to cash in on it.  Having saying that, there are some that seem unchanged so a case of looking around.  Watch out for hefty postage increases too - paying £3 for seeds seems over the top considering the price of a stamp.

Some of the seed companies don't charge p&p for seed only orders, D T Brown for example
http://www.dtbrownseeds.co.uk/Vegetable-Seeds-1/

so always best to shop around

Price wise, you can't go wrong with premier seeds direct, I ordered everything for this year from them....so about £45 worth of seeds...£0.80 postage, that'll do

I don't think that prices on average have changed, really (going by online prices), though individual sellers may have put theirs up here and there.

Does that make sense?

What I mean is, it's still possible to get most of the packs of seeds I want for 50p - 99p per pack, with a single postage charge (like the £80p quoted above) or free post.  Shopping around a little is always useful, but I don't feel that I'm paying any more this year than the last two per pack.

Went into my local Wilkingson yesterday no seed potatoes nor seed yet, just starting to fill the shelves with gardening stuff. £1 shop were nearly out of seed potatoes only early crop and 8 potatoes in a bag. B&Q had their normal varieties and same offer as last year of two bags for £6

Finished my orders today. I've used, DT Browns, Simpsons Seeds, Real Seeds and Medwyns of Anglesea. The prices for the same varietys vary across the board so it pays to shop around.
Saving your own seed every year will also save on seed orders, and you will end up with a variety that grows well on your soil.
