going to give cauliflowers a go for the first time this year

I have been told they are hard to grow - so how can I grow a successful one ?

Plant big strong transplants into firm soil that is in good shape. Newer F1 hybrid seed tends to be more reliable.  Avoid using fresh manure on the bed they will be growing in. I top dress with BFB before planting, then give another feed if needed later.
When the curd starts forming you can tie the big outer leaves together to keep the cauli head from yellowing. Or you can just snap a big leaf over the top. Firm rich ground is most important IMO.

Never grown them before, I just shoved them in the ground and they grew had four this year (Before some smart bum tells me yes there are two Cabbages and two Cauliflowers in the picture)
