I sowed under cloches- two sorts of radish, two varieties of lettuce, parsley and salad carrots. Planted out some greyhound cabbage and snowball cauliflowers through weed suppression fabric and under mini-bottle cloches.

Pulled the last of last years cabbages and harvested some leeks

Sat down and had a beer

Purchased and built a coldframe, sowed broad beans in pots along with some tomato seeds . Hoping to get my strawberry bed made today but other half wants to paint the new fence which I suppose is more important

Helped our daughter with her new plot, did a bit of digging and measuring up.   Sowed a replacement Wizard field bean for the one that didn't show.

Put out the rest of my onions sets and dug a couple of beds over. Inspected the broad beans that I sowed last week directly - no sign yet.... Hmmmm

Due and weeded.  This hopped out of the long grass and gave me a shock so took my new strimmer home without using it  :nowink:

I think it's a female toad.  I put a pond in last year so am hopeful of slug removal help!  The broad beans show how big it is.  She jumped off to my compost heap  :D

a froggy (toads don't hop) looks like she is ready to spawn

been sorting out the pile of timber which has been collecting at the back of the lotty, started putting in new posts for the chicken wire fence as the old posts are starting to rot, had a bonfire to get rid of the odd bits of timber which were no good for anything useful, and other assortment of rubbish, had another fork out of the couch grass which has been growing happily in the fruit cage over the past couple of years.

went on a 5mile walk with Max,  then went to the lottie,  Swept the the greenhouse floor and washed with jeyes, planted my lavender, covered  my store box with felt, cut a vent in my walk in green house, and pulled up some WEEDS, then  had a chat with the other plot owners while max had a nap. Lovely day :D

In the warmth of a lovely sunny day I..... found my strawberries and lifted them removing the weeds as I went and left them tucked along the path for planting in a w bed.

One row of leeks lifted and one to go.... leeks for dinner!

And I had time to say hello to the plot neighbours I haven't seem all winter.  :)

Lots of people up the site, I counted about a dozen plots being worked on over two sessions.  We sowed Brussels, pot marigolds, shallots, corn salad, parsley, rocket, sunflowers then the eight year old lost interest and I went back later to finish sowing the marigolds and do some weeding along where the Camassias have started showing their noses.

Popped down this morning for an hour, replaced a couple more fence posts, did a bit of hoeing, turned out to be nearly 3 hours by the time I got back. Went back in the afternoon, with the grand children (one at a time) wanting to see if there was any strawberries ready. That was the afternoon sorted.  ::)

Went to the allotments at 8.45am to meet a prospective allotmenteer (he requested that time) but he didn't turn up.   It did give me chance to put the cane and wires in place ready for the peas.
