Started the chilli peppers  :D Cutting right back this year , just bhut Jolokia, padron and jalapeno, although I expect I'll sneak some hot lemon in there somewhere.

Not a hope of getting onto our plot today its probably more likely to see a swan than a human on it.  :(

I'm hoping that the soakaway is doing it's thing, because I can well believe a third of this month's rain is coming down today. It is YAMMERING down here.

I emptied the water butts yesterday cos I knew more rain was on its way. Found a place that meant that it didn't just drain onto the main paths as they are saturated already. Didn't stay long except to have a look round at the other plots whilst the water butt was draining and make sure everything was ok. Was quite nice in the late afternoon sunshine.
Today haven't made it as far as the greenhouse at the end of the garden (100 foot away) cos the rain and wind are horrendous. Keeping a close eye on the fences as one has been repaired several times since Christmas Eve and rocking back and forth a lot today.
Hopefully get to the plot tomorrow as it is supposed to be dry?
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

I think my allotment may blow away… I wonder what would be left if it did.

Just went down to the allotments to check on damage from yesterdays storm. Four small tree's have been uprooted on the far side of the brook, fortunately they've fallen across the brook and so minimal damage to the plots. There are lids off cold frames, 2 greenhouses with very little glass left insitu, dalek composters and empty water barrels strewn about. Could have been alot worse.

I called on my way home from work to check for storm damage. Just lost 6 panes from my greenhouse. Unfortunately they landed on my neighbours plot. I took the liberty of going onto her plot to clear away the broken glass. Some of it fell into her leaf mold so I hope I managed to get all the bits.

Lost one pane from then greenhouse in the garden which was very quickly repaired with Perspex.

A lot of the plot next to mine is under about 6 inches of water.

Went to check for any wind damage on the plot. Luckily everything seems to be fine. ;)
Also composted a bucketful of home peelings and stuff!

Checked that the greenhouse was still there....never mind if it was damaged. Fortunately all OK and appears to be not much damage about the site - a fence down between 2 plots was all I could see.

Did a short time mainly in the greenhouse.  Planted some early potatoes in potatoe bags.  Covered them with fleece. Hope they will be ok.  It can get below freezing at night but up to 17 in the day.  Hope the thick sack soil and fleece will protect them.
