I can finally add something for 2014 :) FINALLY got down the plot properly for a few hours. IBC filling up reasonably well, but water overshoots guttering in heavy rain so only half full. Will build shed extension in April / May to catch more.

FINALLY got the Garlic planted. All I need now is a cold snap, they do say that Jan/Feb are the coldest months so I've got me fingers & toes crossed that'll be alright. Life rather got in the way of planting it in November. Managed to get 5 rows netted, need to net the other 5.

Finished getting the weed matting down and pegged with proper serrated pegs which seem to work. Also eye balled where my paths are going to go and left them open so that they can grow away then be strimmed down in the spring.

Unless I get a spare few minutes that will be it now until post-Valentines Day as I am working / working&travelling for the next 20 days straight until a particular retailer's (that rhymes with Shmesco) Valentines Roses are safely on the shelf.  :)

wwooowh, timed that well today, took the rotovator down the plot, still a bit wet, but I took tthe chance, the plot was wet and quite overgrown, so I took it steady, 3 hours to rotovate a half plot, stopping frequently to clear the blades, got it done as darkness fell, got home and 10 minutes later the heavens opened, hail, thunder and lightning.

yesterday - before the squalls came - refelted the shed roof, dug over 1 quarter of the plot (it is a full-sized one) and OH - sadly - had to take down the Munty frame. Will need to build something new for the runners. The plot certainly looks tidy - for now....
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

Today... not a thing on the plot. Too wet... even if it wasn't raining the ground would be squelchy.

I hope you didn't slice and chop and fold those weeds in grendel unless they were all annuals. Boy would any perennials be delighted.... spread and multiplied ready for the new spring growing season.  :(

yes, but by continually rotovating until I plant the weeds dont stand a chance (its worked fine for me over the last 3 years, so no reason it shouldnt  keep working), plus I laid some weed fabric over parts of the plot.
today in the rain I got my garlic into the ground, - been trying to get the plot ready for it since november.

Went and had a look, first time for a few days. Dug up a few leeks and parsnips for the roast dinner tonight. Plot is looking really sad and empty. I could kick myself that I didn't sow broad beans in the autumn. I was convinced I would loose them to a really cold winter.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Potted up my chitted broad beans just in case the ones I sowed in November fail, but they do look fairly strong tho about 1 1/2 inches and a couple of leaves.

Showed a prospective new tenant around the site.   Luckily I timed it for the only 20 minutes it wasn't tipping it down.   He seemed keen.  I figure if he is positive in these conditions he has sufficient stamina!   Picked some leeks and kale while I was there.

Not been to plot for couple of weeks as either been raining or typical, working when dry day!
Need to pick last of my sprouts. Not many left and also pick some of bigger leeks. Might take chance today but keeps raining  :(
