Today (on the home plot):

* watered the roses transplanted from the plot
* plonked a dozen or more strawberry plants in place (ready for late planting)
* took trays of beetroot, leeks, shallots and broadbeans over the road to the new home plot

Lugged a ton of large ceramic planters down onto the lawn ready for the new patio slabs to go in place on Monday. This inbetween making my mother's breakfast and lunch and a loaf of bread for tomorrow morning and completing one washing-machine load.

Late lunch calls......

Painted the new fence and gate with wood preservative.   Harvested some more PSB.

Productive day today! Trimmed all the grass on the paths (I need to find a quicker way to do this than shears I think),  Finished  earthing up the potatoes, sowed peas, spring onions and some wild flowers. Transplanted the first of the lettuce onto the plot under a cheap polytunnel thing. They have been hardened off on the balcony so hopefully the early ones will work - will sow next batch this weekend. Finally I dug over one of the larger beds where weeds seems to be sprouting like mad!

Finished the rejuvenation of the strawberry cage, watered in the greenhouse and o/h dug over (and weeded) another bed. He's very happy that he's only 2/3 of a bed away from finishing the weeding :-)

Lovely day here too. Decided to make life easier for myself, so put weed suppressent down around the blackcurrants and gooseberries. Will put bark chippings down eventually. Weeded the rhubarb bed and dug out the volunteer potatoes that keep appearing in too of my raised beds.

Strimmed the edges of the path, repaired/rebuilt the fence next to the path and fixed the greenhouse door (using a home-made roller) - not a lot of gardening but did water the plants/seeds in the greenhouse and admired the Pak-Choi seeds that have sprouted along with the shallot and onion sets.

Weeded and then did an excited girly dance around the plot looking at all of my fruit trees and bushes that are in flower once I had fixed another bolt onto the shed door after it was forced off a couple of months ago.

Blackcurrant

Jostaberry

Gooseberry

Dwarf Medlar

Apple redlove

Mowed the plot yesterday to keep it under control. I really need to get stuck into the back half of the plot and dig out all the couch and make it usable instead of just growing grass!!!!

A short but profitable visit:

With a few whispered rude words I disconnected the shed guttering and stored it in the shed.
I hoed between the shallots and along side the carrots. (Got to keep the place looking loved).
I piled 3 wide and 4 long'n narrow heavy gauge wire-mesh cloches (if that's what they are called) on to the cycle-trailer.

Sped back home.

i potted on PSB and kale ready to go out in the plot when the autumn planted onions come out.  watered all the root seed beds.  Dug a bit more of my new half patch.  Need to finish it this weekend.  i reckoned it was 12 hours worth of weeding and digging and edging.  I'll be all in on Sunday

Put in the pea supports for the 'short' peas and sowed them.   Sowed some salsify (new experiment), some leaf beet and one row of beetroot.   Dug over new raised bed.   OH still digging out old metal at the top of the plot ready for installing our second hand polytunnel.   Surprisingly cold today after a lovely day yesterday.  Came home when we needed to warm up.
