Filled the gaps in the shallot bed with some new ones from our trading hut.

I got an hour to myself so I popped up to the plot and erected my pea supports as they are just stsrting to pop through and weeded the strawberry bed. 3 visits in 3 days is a rarity for me but I feel like I am getting there now!!!

Holy mackerel. What a day on the plot, list below in no particular order, parents are staying with me so we got a lot done!;

20? rows Garlic/Onions hoed.
Swiss Chard row weeded thoroughly and cleaned up after winter.
Asparagus beds weeded, first spears just popping up.
20-25sqm dug over. Still another 100-150msq to dig?
Shed cleared and tidied (you can actually get into it now!)
5x4m section covered in weed fabric and planted with 10 fruit bushes;
Gooseberry x 4
Red Currant x 2
Blackcurrant x 2
White Currant x 2
(4 of said fruit bushes moved from elsewhere, heck that was hardwork, 6 new)

We all came home about 4pm having been on the plot since 9.30am, exhausted!

In more exciting news I also ordered a Mantis tiller, my time is far too pressured with work to dig a whole allotment by hand these days as much as I would like to! As an example from Saturday to Saturday in the week prior to Mother's Day I worked 109 hours! Not much (any) time for plot related activity.

Been raining all day so we sowed more seeds. Think I may have over done the seed sowing. Florence went up with daddy and cleared the last of the swedes. Pathetic.  :mad: cleared a bed of cabbage and cleared some more leeks, struggling to eat them all we still have about 100 left  :lol:

My asparagus crowns came this morning, so regardless of the weather, they went in.
Also, a friend donated some pond plants for my babybath, so they went in too.

After the brief but substantial belt of rain passed through this afternoon I ventured up the garden to see how things were doing (not really expecting that much to look at to be honest.)

1) Last year's Albion strawberry runners, transplanted into a new bed a month ago and still very small, are already flowering and trying to set fruit (think I need to have a quiet word with them!)

2) Weeds of every type are romping way - forecast to have a few dry-ish days, hopefully starting tomorrow, so a full frontal attack on them seems on the cards.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

Didn't make it yesterday or today ...... Dodgy Chinese take-away Saturday night. Managed to put up pea supports on Saturday and get in 2x3m rows that had started off in guttering.
Weather looks better tomorrow, so rest of peas going in, along with perpetual spinach, pakchoi, beetroot, palla rosa and spring onions.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Put some tomato seeds into propagator.
Checked how plants were down the allotment too wet to do anything though

Cheers HH
Keep digging
