Gorgeous weather so went down for a tidy up and mooch around. Ended up digging over a couple of beds, sowing a few broad beans and harvesting some rhubarb

Still too wet to do much, but a neighbour had donated some of his summer rasps so managed to plant them. No idea what variety they are but they're huge and taste gorgeous  :)

Dug up some of my Joan J rasp runners, which were escaping into the path, to take up to the school garden which starts again on Wednesday.

Went to the allotment hut, bought 7lb of Picasso for £2,50 thats the spuds sorted, going  back to buy red sun shallots, and some sharp sand next week.
On my plot dug over the potatoes bed ready for planting.
Removed all wood chippings from the greenhouse and put them on the flower bed found a few slugs, but they won't be chewing anything now  ;)
Made our compost bin, just need to put some wire mesh around the base.
Went to B&Q and bought some vermiculite and cell inserts to start my cabbages .
At home the 15 Grando Violetto broad bean left from last year have sprouted.
Happy Days  :D

Not on the plot but in the garden, dug out one small round bed and one enormous corner bed. By the time I had sorted the sod that was more or less the day done!

Another load of fresh horse manure and stable bedding delivered a couple of days ago,  so more wheel barrowing today. Filled the last of the black compost bins and placed a few more barrow loads onto the plot ready for digging in. Also mulched all the fruit bushes. Signs of seeds in greenhouse germinating, quite a bit of heat now inside the greenhouse when the sun is out. Need to get some more seed potatoes though.

Dug up the strawberry bed as it's produced less than a dozen fruit in 3 years. Finished putting the rest of the glazing clips on the greenhouse as we're forecast more windy weather next week. Started to tie up the raspberry canes. I cut them all down winter 2012-13 and Im still none the wiser which are summer and which are autumn fruiting  ::)

Moving plots this year so had a good look at the new one, did quite a bit of digging on the new plot and harvested broccoli, leeks and Brussels from the current plot  :)

Cleared out 'dumping ground' next to communal shed which I took over in the autumn and had filled with all the carpet, wood, etc. that I found on the plot - all piled on top of 8 very rotten pallets.

Emptied out last years spent soil onto some very low beds. Added some well rotted manure onto a few beds. Sowed some beetroot and turnips under fleece. ( I know but its nearly march)

Florence did some amazing weeding all on her own, she even told me how to shake the soil of the weeds LOL she was amazing and earnt five shiny stars for her reward chart.

Just a quick visit - I did some harvesting while my 10 year old helper sowed a deep tray with leek seeds.

Finished clearing up the raspberry canes, weeded the asparagus bed which is very wet - hope the crowns are ok. Weeded around the blueberry bushes and cut back the the blackberry canes which were going mad. Noticed the shiplap on the shed and chicken coop was buckled so applied a couple of coats of stuff .

After that lot my gloves were shredded and very smelly so I cleared up the mess in the top greenhouse and called it a day.  It's nice to be outside, but it does remind me of how much needs to be fixed - everywhere !
