Dug up my small crop of first earlies and weeded. Each time dig an area, find more stones and bricks!
Finally getting a crop of spinach after 3rd sowing which covered with net. Not sure what ate them before, birds or slugs?
Need a longer session to remove debris netting and weed cabbage, cauli and sprouts.
One courgette plant seems only one surviving which dont understand why. Leaves eaten to leave stalk on other but one at home nearly ready to plant, yellow type.
Pumpkins not looking great either.
Cabbages looking lovely. some cauli blown, others healthy.

Did a major water last night, so this morning I sprinkled some granular fertiliser about the place and then dusted some pyrethrum and a bit of copper sulphate on plants that looked like they might be glad of it.

I should really have been weeding, but to be honest it's nice to do something that feels a bit more 'positive' for a change. The weeds aren't going anywhere...

Watered a lot.  Picked more broad beans and peas and a few salad items.

The peas are finished now.
The strawberries are finished too.
Some tiny runner beans on now, no french beans yet.
Started picking broad beans when I noticed that a lot of the stalks are empty now, so I started cutting them down. Got halfway through and there's a ton of beans to carry home so the rest can wait until tomorrow.
Pulled out some of the bigger shallots and set them out to dry. There are some very big ones and some teeny ones, no idea why.
Brought the rest of the winter onions home to dry in the garage.

I have been steadily picking my broad beans and freezing those I don't immediatly need. I have staggered pea crops, so I am planting new peas to replace those I have picked. Other than that it is weeding and watering and lamenting what the slugs ate last night.

Spent 5 hours at plot today! Really enjoyed day despite the heat. Got so much done. Digging up onions. Weeded around cabbage and planted 6 new cabbage plants and some kale. Sewed carrots and more pak choi as last lot didnt germinate, also more fennel and sugar snap peas. Covered everything with net as think birds are eating all my seedlings. Cant all be poor seed or slugs!
Gave everything a really good watering too. Planted my reserve courgette too!
Very productive day until felt sunstroke coming on and ran out of drinking water! x

Watering, and tied up my tomatoes plants in the greenhouse last night.
Won't have to do any watering today, but hopefully collect some broadbeans.

Sat beside the strawberry bed and attempted to plant runners in pots.
When Monty puts the runner on top of the compost and pushes it down with a little hoop of bent wire, it stays down, mine just kept popping out again as soon as I looked away. Grr!

So far, have dug up almost the last Charlotte potatoes, only one small row left to go. Only pronged one! All the others are nice and undamaged - no slug or snail holes. Didn't do the rest as I was starting to get a bit hot even though it was only 7.30 am. Also dug up the last of the shallots grown from sets. Am very pleased with the harvest. Plus, very quick in comparison with growing from seed.

Cleared a load of weeds. Can't really call it weeding. I'm in firefighting mode and just trying to stop them from setting seed. Getting rid of them altogether is beyond me at the moment as the day job is taking up too much time.

Removed yet another winter cabbage that has been damaged. Five out of 20 gone. This evening's job will be to sow some more, even if it is a bit late, and start off some more beetroot.

Watered the polytunnel.   No need to water outside!   Discovered a frog in the polytunnel.  Put a little water bath in for it.  Picked 1 okra!  and 3 courgettes.

Finally planted out my leeks and covered them with fleece. This will hopefully stop the leek moth!
Pricked out salad seedlings.
Quick hoe.
Picked some flowers!

Watered and exclaimed in alarm at the sight of some of my leeks bolting (temperatures and winds have been extreme here over the last few days).
