Never been one for growing greens although I love them but I did sow some purple sprouting earlier in the year as I found an old packet kicking around. They are about 4ft tall now and are just starting to show buds at the base of each scar thingy and each leaf. Now then, should I cut out the growing tip to concentrate the effort into producing the imminent edible side shoots ?  The growing tip incidentally is not showing any sign of flowering.

Leave it.

The growing tip should eventually give you the biggest spear. The act of regular harvesting will encourage more spears to form.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
