Opal Plum: do you have one?
« on: December 23, 2013, 18:50 »
I am looking for info on the performance and taste of this plum, sure there a lot of info on the selling sites but I am looking a more personal point of view.

Do you have one?

I got one about 4 years ago and it finally managed half a dozen fruits this year although the tree is about 15 foot tall. Hopefully it will get into it's stride next year. The taste was nothing exceptional, very similar to shop bought ones. If I planted another one, I'd probably give Victoria a go as despite it's difficulties, it does taste good.

Many thanks for the info Nobbie, I am thinking of getting one on a Pixy root stock and growing it against a wall that has some space on it. The Nursery's are never the best place to get info from due to the need to sell.

Have a good Christmas.
