I'm hoping to move into my new hour in the first few months of next year, so it will be a prime time to get started with the gardening/growing.  I'm sure I'll be quite busy setting up the beds etc so I might not try anthing too new.

What I would really like to get into the garden is some raspberrys - but will have to work out what space!

I'm keen to get a greenhouse, so if I do that will influence what I grow :)

So fun looking forward to next year!

Hannah :)

Greenhouse cukes - OK I've grown them for the last 3 years on the trot, but if they live long enough to produce even one fruit that will be a new experience for me!
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I am going to try sweetcorn, broad beans, pak choi, romanesco cauliflower (thanks to suggestions on this site) and onions from seed (thanks again), oh and garlic (which is already in and looks ok so far).  Fingers crossed!  And I'm also hoping to do better with spring onions...

Blacktail Mountain watermelons. They were bred to grow in cooler climates with shorter winters than the southern US where most of our watermelons grow. These are super sweet, crisp red flesh with a dark green rind. I'm drooling already.

They sound brilliant! Are they for growing outside or in?

They're for growing outside in the UK under cloches. They were originally bred in the mountains of Idaho, a rather cold country in the northern US so they'll grow well in our warmer areas.

waiting for my mini orchard to arrive soon. bit of an impulse buy during an end of season sale. will contain apple, pear, cherry, plum, apricot and peach. these will have to be grown in pots or bags for this season as i haven't and prob won't get time to clear the ground.

also looking at blueberry, but this may have to wait til next year now.

I'm going to make an effort with the brassicas in 2014. Had some promising cabbages last year and also some caulis that the caterpillars/birds devoured....to be fair I didn't spray them or protect them in any way. I'm going to make a few home made mesh tunnels and give them a fair chance.
I'm also going to give melons a decent go this year so will have to cut back a bit on the usual squashes that take up most of my plot.

OH got boxes of interesting seeds from his sister yesterday - now I have to figure out where to grow them ....

There were ones we grow anyway (gold courgettes, tigerella tomatoes, gold beetroot) and some odd balls (purple carrots being a particular challenge) and others I cant remember.  Plus flowers ...
