Hemcore alert.
« on: December 13, 2013, 13:55 »
I dont know how many of you use hemcore for your coups like me but I went today to buy a new bale and managed to get the last bale from my stockists. It seems that the company Hemp Technology is no longer trading, so if you do use it and see some still at your stockists I would grab it quickly.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Does any one use Easi-Chick?  if so what do you think?   there is also a company called Bliss that produce 3 types, basic, citronella (supposed to help with flies etc ) and eucalyptus    but it is difficult to fine a stockist round here

I use easibed which is the same as easichick, same manufactuer.  The only difference is easichick comes in smaller bales and easibed comes in a bale twice as big. I pay around £6.70 for a huge bale.

I think its great and we use it for the chickens, in our aviaries and the bottom of the rabbit hutch. I use it in the outside run for the chickens which is open to the elements but it stops the ground getting boggy.

You can check this link for an easibed stockist. Lucky for us, our stockist supplies all of these types of bedding so we could see them before buying. Some are chunkier and some are finer cut.

We use bliss, it's similar to Hemcore and comes in Eucalyptus, Citronella or plain.

I got Bliss recently (it was much cheaper than other bedding) and the eucalyptus one is really nice when you first put it in the coop.

I was a bit worried about what the Bliss has been treated with. Trus-STEED what is it and will it harm the chickens?
We have a local supplier and it would be great if I could use the one will citronella in it because I liked the hemcore with citronella.
