Resecue mother in law's tongue
« on: November 21, 2013, 14:39 »
I have a mother in law's tongue which looks like it hasn't been cared for, for 3 years + (someone else was looking after it).  The soil is very dry and it is drooping.
Any ideas on what to do to revive it?
I have watered it and will give it some asprin.   Should I repot it?

Thanks in advance.

Mother in Law's tongue is a very tough plant. It is used as bedding in Spain, and survives without any water virtually all summer, so I am sure yours will recover.

I wouldn't worry about repotting it right away. If you have given it a good soak, you could top up the soil in the pot a bit to refresh it.

The flabby leaves may not recover but it will grow fresh ones. Just keep it somewhere bright and cool, although frost free of course, and all should be well

Mine go like this if it's too cold and I've forgotten to bring them inside in the autumn.  They'll spring back, but don't like overwatering so be frugal and make sure it drains off.
