Tea bags in a bean trench - fact or fiction?

I compost loads of stuff this way, as I never have enough compost bins. There was another thread recently about it.  You will be amazed how quickly everything rots down. I find no trace of what went into mine the following spring.
Something about this method makes more sense to me than composting in a bin. So, as soon as beds start to empty I start chucking stuff in.   

our bean trench currently has the stalks of the vines, sweetcorn, clematis and borlotti beans in it, as they are all a bit stringy in the compost, but do a great job of decaying in the trench.  Plus the calabrase stalks and will get the brussels stalks as they are eaten (the brussels not the stalks!).
